Today I received my copy of
Joanna Briscoe's first novel
Mothers and Other Lovers, signed by the author herself. This is only a mere 10 days since Joanna took my address at the
York Lesbian Arts Festival and promised to send me a copy, after I asked her whether her first book was going to be re-printed now it is out of print. I'm now champing at the bit to start reading it, but I'm already half way through Emma Donoghue's
Slammerkin, so I will have to resist for now. I've also got Joanna's second novel
Skin to read, which is due back at the library on November 17th.
I am terribly impressed at the speed at which Joanna sent me the book, not to mention the fact that she personally signed it to me and included a yellow post-it note, hoping that I enjoyed the festival in York. What a lovely person she is.
